FAQs

How is i.Athlete Physio different from any standard physical therapy clinic?

Your entire course of care is essential for your complete healing and recovery. Unlike conventional physical therapy, your care is one-on-one the entire time, provided by a Doctor of Physical Therapy. We believe that the doctor should be the one overseeing all facets of your care from start to finish, ensuring complete and thorough healing and return to function.

How much does each visit cost?

Our services vary in price. Please contact us for more details.

How long are the treatment sessions?

Treatment sessions can vary in length depending on the type of visit. The visits will last 30-45 minutes.

Do I need a referral to be seen at i.Athlete Physio?

No, a referral is not needed to be seen at i.Athlete Physio. A physician referral may be required for you to submit for insurance reimbursement. California is a direct access state for physical therapy. The physical therapist can treat a patient for 45 days or 12 visits, whichever comes first, before requiring a prescription from a Medical Doctor.

Can I request reimbursement from my insurance for physical therapy out of pocket expenses?

This depends on the insurance you have but the answer is yes. Patients seen for physical therapy can send in self-claims to their insurance. You should be able to print claim forms off of your insurance company’s website and send it in with the requested receipts and treatment codes. These will be provided upon request from i.Athlete Physio. The amount of reimbursement or payment toward your deductible is completely dependent on your insurance plan. If you are planning to submit for reimbursement, you should call your insurance company prior to visiting i.Athlete Physio. Ask about reimbursement for out-of-network physical therapy expenses and make sure there are no other requirements, like a pre-authorization, before you get started.

Why is i.Athlete Physio out-of-network with all insurance companies?

i.Athlete Physio has decided to be an out-of-network provider because directly taking insurance does not support our treatment philosophy. We believe in one-on-one treatment that is based completely on the needs of the individual client. Typical insurance based physical therapy clinics need to see about 2-3 patients per hour to be profitable. At i.Athlete Physio, we feel that this model is broken and refuse to sacrifice our client’s quality of care. Your visit at i.Athlete Physio will be one-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy the entire time.

What do I need for my first visit with i.Athlete Physio?

We ask that you try to arrive approximately 10 minutes before your scheduled visit. Also, please wear loose fitting, comfortable clothes to be able to appropriately assess your movement and function.
